dare to rewrite your story
It has been quiet on our blog.
What were we up to during the past two months and where are we today?
Telling you that we have been busy training, is not nearly enough.
Yes, our days were full packed with sessions, recovering and preparing for the season. But since January we learnt far more. Whether this is about nutrition, taking life a little easier sometimes and not overthinking things you can't control. "Chill honey bunny", a few bad weeks do not define your long term performance.
The return to the sunny coast at the beginning of 2024 marked a turning point in our Australia journey.
The local pool starts feeling like our home pool. The street names of the roads we ride on are no longer unknown. The people we train and live with are no strangers anymore. We are no longer the foreign swiss twins. We are now Anna and Lea and a part of the crew. Watching the sun rise above us during ocean swims, riding through the backland of Queensland and running along the coastline. Life is good and one thing for sure, we live the dream over here.
As these days will soon turn into memories, we tried taking day by day, living more mindful and caring a little less about what goes on anywhere else in this world.
Sounds easy but quite often we still struggle with the thought of leaving. Therefore we decided to let some time pass with new blogposts and updates on what we do.
But here we are, back at it.
As mentioned above, our time in Australia is nearly over. At this point, you inevidably start reflecting. Our current teammates have grown close to our hearts. They know a version of us, no one back home met yet.
By living on the other side of the world, we often had to step outside of our comfort zone. All of this and making decisions on our own had a big impact us.
Before we left, our story seemed to be written. We only needed to follow her. However elite sports was only a tiny part of it. We chased the high grades in school, the perfectionism at work and the diplomas for further studies.
Our performance in races was nothing but average and we could barely keep up with anyone. Year after year all we wanted was to better and faster. But we tried to fit triathlon into an already overfilled schedule.
Despite our efforts our progress remained minimal during almost three years.
We had a lot of time to think about what was and what will be.
At some point we realized, we had to stop complaining about the results we did not get from the work we did not put in.
Performance sports is nothing you do next to thousands of other things.
Everyone has a lot on their plate. You will not get any better when you feel pity for yourself because on how much busier you are than the rest.
If you want to perform, that is on you. You choose the success you choose to chase.
Eight months did not turn us into world champions. We had the best facilites you could ask for, more than enough time to focus on training and a fantastic surrounding. But realisticly, everonye works hard and even if we train a lot, our opponents do too. Our bodies need time, effort and far more than eight months. Growth does not happen over night.
We do not expect magical results as soon as we are back racing in Switzerland.
But we now know what it takes, to perform one day.
